This Week’s Devotional Topic
REDEEM THE TIME
We must ‘redeem the time’. It is extremely important. Every moment we are able to take a breath, every heartbeat, whether it is in our minds, thoughts as we lay in bed, in the morning, half asleep or eating breakfast, or the people that we interact with during the day, or time alone while we are going through our day or driving down the road, we should focus on redeeming the time.
Even if it is just a smile to someone you pass by or giving a greeting, saying “God bless you”.
Christ has redeemed us. He literally gained possession in exchange for His blood sacrifice. We have been purchased.
I Corinthians 6:19,20 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
We are in Spiritual warfare every day.
Ephesians 6:10-14a “A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground…”
Be vigilant.
I Peter 5:8,9 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
Expand your ‘tent stakes! Take territory for the Lord.
Isaiah 5:2,3 “Enlarge the place of your tent, and let the curtains of your habitations be stretched out; do not hold back; lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes. For you will spread abroad to the right and to the left, and your offspring will possess the nations and will people the desolate cities.”
Redeeming the time is an opportunity, our privilege, indeed it is our God given responsibility.
Ephesians 5:13-17 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
And ‘redeeming the time’ also includes activities that make for peace and edifying other believers.
Romans 14:17-19 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.
I Thessalonians 5:11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also you do. Edify one another!
And finally, as our aim is to ‘redeem the time’, God help us to realize that doing so is ‘time sensitive’. We need to be wise as we invest our time and resources.
Psalms 90:12 Teach us to realize the brevity of life, (to number our days), so that we may grow in wisdom.
Every moment of every day, think on these things!
