This week’s Devotional Topic
WAKE UP
It seems like many of us fall into one of two camps…a “Morning Person” or a “Night Owl”. There are actually many places in scripture that encourage us to get an early start. Most of us have heard the adage “the early bird gets the worm” and then Benjamin Franklin is quoted to have said: “Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise”. There is a lot of value in getting adequate rest and then rising early to get a head start on the day.
God gave “manna”in the morning. We need to invest time alone with God first thing, in the morning. It has been said that the best time to tune the instrument is before the Concert. Just look at Christ as our example. Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
Christ resurrected the first day of the week, and they found the empty tomb early in the morning.
Luke chapter 21 describes how that “Every day Jesus went to the Temple to teach…The crowds gathered at the Temple early each morning to hear Him”.
May God help us to invest time in His presence and in His word in the morning as we start our day with Him.
