This week’s Devotional Topic
The Image of God
Most of us have important goals in our life. What would you say is your most important, maybe even “vital” goal? Is it to be found in he image of God? Consider the Apostle Paul’s testimony found it Philippians 3. “I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For His sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with Him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with Himself depends on faith. I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised Him from the dead.” His primary goal was to know Christ and be like Him.
God’s goal for us is the same. That we would be conformed to His image. Romans 8:28, 29 says “…we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son…”
God will help us to accomplish the goal of growing so much like Christ that the world sees the image of God in us.
