This week’s Devotional Topic
The Power of the Mouth
Have you ever been caught saying inappropriate or foul language and then someone told you that you should “watch your mouth”? Well that is actually a biblical concept. We should be “slow to speak”, think before we speak, engage our brain before we engage our mouth. If you are having a challenge with controlling your words, be encouraged. God can and does direct our mouth and give us the words to say. Ask Him for wisdom.
Not only do we need to watch our mouth for what we say, but it is vital that we pay attention to what God says. Memorize His word. Hide scripture in your heart that you might not sin against Him. And we are told to confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and that with the mouth, confession is made to Salvation! Let us pray as the Psalmist David – “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to You, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer”.
This week’s Scripture: Proverbs 15:28; James 1:19; Proverbs 10:31-32; James 3:2; Matthew 15:11; Exodus 4:10-15; Exodus 4:10-15
