This week’s Devotional Topic
Friendship
A true friend loves at all times and each understands a lot about the other. Friendship is sometimes hard to maintain. One of the first times this type of intimate relationship is mentioned in the Bible is found in Genesis 6:9. “This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless person living on earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God.” They were good friends!
Friends love each other. Friendship and love go hand in hand. Listen to the words of Christ in John 15:12-17, “This is My commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are My friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in His slaves. Now you are My friends, since I have told you everything the Father told Me. You didn’t choose Me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using My name. This is My command: Love each other.”
