This week’s Devotional Topic
Waiting
Waiting is one of the hardest things we ever do. To wait requires patience and faith. Whether it is waiting for the excitement and reward of Christmas, waiting for the wedding day or waiting for your first child or first grandchild to be born.
Old testament believers had to wait. They heard the prophecies concerning the coming Messiah and by faith they waited… and then Galatians 4:4,5, “…when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons”.
The Disciples obeyed the Lord and they waited as they were commanded by Christ: Acts 1:4,5, “And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence”.
We wait for the coming of our Lord. Luke 12:36-40, “Be dressed for service and keep your lamps burning, as though you were waiting for your master to return from the wedding feast. Then you will be ready to open the door and let him in the moment he arrives and knocks. The servants who are ready and waiting for his return will be rewarded”.
Wait on the Lord. It will be worth it all when we see Jesus!
