This Week’s Devotional Topic
TIME FOR HEAVEN
These days, it is so easy to become totally overwhelmed with what we read, see and hear about the condition our world is in. Changes in technology has my head spinning. The political climate of these United States, condition of our economy and civil unrest in some areas causes some to wonder if we will every again see our nation as it once was.
While talking with a daughter-in-law, discussing some of what is going on in regard to the rush toward a totally digital currency and what that means in light of prophecy I could see what appeared to be a little concern in the face of her daughter. Although those changes can be a little scary, I encouraged her by the fact that the Bible goes on to describe how that what we see could be considered ‘birth pains’ that are signs of discomfort but also clear indications that something wonderful is coming. Jesus is coming and we are going to be in His very presence, in heaven soon. Although only God himself knows the hour and the day He has provided clues, prophecy, that we can have expectation, hope, not as others without hope.
Our perspective should be setting our thoughts on things above, our future.
Colossians 3:1,2 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
There will soon come a time when we will forever be with the LORD.
I Thessalonians 4:13-18 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words.
Brothers and sisters in the Lord, be encouraged. Keep your eyes on the prize. These days may be filled with uncertainty but our future is certain! In the twinkling of an eye, our “hope” will become “reality”.
I Corinthians 15:50-58 What I am saying, dear brothers and sisters, is that our physical bodies cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. These dying bodies cannot inherit what will last forever. But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed! It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed. For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies. Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.
When we are changed, we will be just like Him.
John 3:1,2 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
My listening friend, if you are a Christian, then rest assured that no matter what is going on around us, in the political arena, the economy, civil unrest and satanic influences around us, we will be safely tucked away in our new home. Going to heaven, no matter what. God said it. I believe it and that settles it for me.
