This Week’s Devotional Topic

A HEAVENLY PERSPECTIVE

It is important that we keep in mind the fact and reality that Heaven is the end game. It is where God is so that is where we want to be. We will get to see Jesus, the one that bought our pardon, allowing us to be there. There will be no more death or dying there AND we will finally enjoy peace and rest from all the cares and concerns of this world.

Heaven is where God is.

Deuteronomy 26:15   Now look down from Your holy dwelling place in heaven and bless Your people Israel and the land You swore to our ancestors to give us—a land flowing with milk and honey.’

Matthew 6:9  Jesus instructed the disciples to pray this way – Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Mark 16:19   When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, He was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand.

We will be changed, a new body and no more dying there.

Isaiah 25:8,9   He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.

I Corinthians 15:51-58   Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So, when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

Revelation 21:4   And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Heaven is our future “Home”!

Psalms 16:11   You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Isaiah 64:4  For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.

According to the author of Hebrews, Heaven is our reward.

Hebrews 11:24-26   It was by faith that Moses, when he grew up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to share the oppression of God’s people instead of enjoying the fleeting pleasures of sin. He thought it was better to suffer for the sake of Christ than to own the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking ahead to his great reward.

Jesus Christ told His disciples.

John 14:1-3   Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Please listen closely to the perspective that Paul had regarding his resurrection and future home with Christ.

Philippians 3:4b-11   If anyone else thinks he has reason for confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee; as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to righteousness under the law, blameless. But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith—that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.

Heavenly Father, your word proclaims that Heaven is really our “home” in many ways. Help us to have that perspective as we focus on knowing and serving you. And as we go through this life with all of its distractions. Please bring confidence to our hearts and minds in that reminder. It will be worth it all when we see Jesus. Amen.
