This week’s Devotional Topic
PRESENCE OF GOD
Are you enjoying the Presence of God in your life? The Bible is filled with examples of those who have and descriptions of what our experience should be as WE practice the presence of the Lord. Let’s listen and learn from scripture.
I Kings 8:56,57 Blessed be the LORD, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant. The LORD our God be with us, as he was with our fathers: let him not leave us, nor forsake us:
I Chronicles 28:20 Then David said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous and do it. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed, for the LORD God, even my God, is with you. He will not leave you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the LORD is finished.
Here is an excellent example of what it may be like to be in the presence of God in worship.
II Chronicles 5:11-14 And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place: (for all the priests that were present were sanctified, and did not then wait by course: Also the Levites which were the singers, all of them of Asaph, of Heman, of Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, being arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them an hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets:) It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD; So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God.
Matthew 1:20-23 But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).
The presence of God was on the earth at creation. His presence was with Adam & Eve in the garden. His presence has been with His people expressed many times in the Old Testament and was clearly at work in all of his creation since the beginning. And when Christ came, God was manifest in His son Jesus. After Christ visibly went into the heavens He sent the comforter, the Holy Spirit and some day soon we will be with God for all eternity. Indeed….He will never leave us or forsake us. Even so Lord come quickly. Amen.
