This week’s Devotional Topic
PROSPERITY – As You Prosper, Don’t Forget
When God blesses us and we prosper, there are a few important things to remember.
It is hard to be happy and filled with Joy when going through times of drought and being concerned about our needs. We are told not to be anxious but to pray with thanksgiving.
And remember that every good gift comes from God…
James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
Psalms 84:11,12 For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.
*He provides all our needs and we should praise Him..
Philippians 4:19,20 And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.
Matthew 6:19-21 *In the words of Jesus – “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.”
Ecclesiastes 7:11-14 Wisdom is even better when you have money. Both are a benefit as you go through life. Wisdom and money can get you almost anything, but only wisdom can save your life. Accept the way God does things, for who can straighten what He has made crooked? Enjoy prosperity while you can, but when hard times strike, realize that both come from God. Remember that nothing is certain in this life.
And Paul had learned how to be content whether rich or poor…
Philippians 4:11,12 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.
I Timothy 6:6-8 Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content.
Brothers and sisters in Christ – whether we are having days of sunshine enjoying the mountain top or down in the valley, under the clouds of this life, God means it all for good! Romans 8:28, 29 is still in the book.
