This week’s Devotional Topic
REASONS TO SING
Music is a vehicle of worship. God made us to have a special sensitivity to music and singing. We are told to make music in our hearts, sing and make a joyful noise, a LOUD noise of praise to Him. Even if we know we can only make a happy “noise” and can’t carry a tune in a bucket, we can praise him with a song in our heart.
Just listen to the Psalmist David in…
Psalm 40:3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
Note that many shall SEE it! The invisible song in our hearts shows itself in our life to others so that they SEE it, Christ in us, our hope of glory.
As we go through scripture, watch for more Reasons To Sing…
Psalm 100:1-5 A Psalm of praise. Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
Ephesians 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
James 5:13 Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises.
There will be a lot of Singing in Heaven…
Revelation 15:3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.
As you walk through this day with our LORD, count the many reasons we have to sing and as the song says “….count your many blessings, name them one by one…” and it may surprise you what the LORD has done.
