This week’s Devotional Topic
HIS PEACE
Are you overwhelmed by too much to keep track of these days? Are you struggling with circumstances around you or things stealing your peace from the inside like your thoughts or physical issues? Let’s listen and learn about peace from God’s word.
A very common greeting found in several places in scripture. In fact, it is clearly included so many times that it is obvious that God wants to think on these things!
Let us start in Romans 1:7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
I Peter 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
Revelation 1:4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;
Here is an important recipe for Peace from Paul…
Philippians 4:6,7 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Jesus Christ Himself spoke “Peace”…
Mark 4:35-39 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
And again Jesus speaks in John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
And you may be familiar with the character describing Christians found in Galatians 5:22,23 “…the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness and temperance…”
And just as the Apostle Paul ended his second letter to the church at Thessalonica…II Thessalonians 3:16 Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.
