This week’s Devotional Topic
Life
As we look at life the scriptures tell us that in the beginning God gave life…
John 1:1-4, “In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through Him, and nothing was created except through Him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and His life brought light to everyone.”
God took dramatic steps to preserve life during the flood not just for Noah’s family, but an ark to ensure that all life would survive on the earth after the flood.
The first commandment with a promise was for “… long and full life in the land” to the Israelites as a reward for honoring their parents (Exodus 20:12). And that promise was repeated by the Apostle Paul to the Ephesians “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise: If you honor your father and mother, “things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.”
Jesus Christ himself told us not to worry about life in Matthew 6:25, “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to Him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?”
Jesus came that we might have life (John 10:10) and that we would have it more abundantly. Make certain that your name is written in the Lambs Book of Life! Believe and receive this Life. Enjoy this life abundantly and the life hereafter eternally. “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” (John 3:36)
