This week’s Devotional Topic
Mercy
It has been said that Grace is when God gives us what we don’t deserve and mercy is when God doesn’t give us what we do deserve. We deserve punishment for our Sin. Romans 3:23, “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 6:23, “… the wages of sin is death…” “we deserve death but by His mercy we are given everlasting life,” (John 3:16, 17) and “… he that believeth on Him is not condemned”. That is mercy…for real.
As you have experienced His mercy, let others see His mercy in you. As Paul said to the Colossians 3:12, “Since God chose you to be the holy people He loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” And as Christ said in Matthew 5:7, “Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.” And in Luke 6:36, “Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.”
This week’s Scripture: Lamentations 3:20-33; Exodus 20:4-6; Psalm 89:1, 2; Matthew 20:29-34; Romans 12:1,2
