This week’s Devotional Topic
God’s Discipline
God’s discipline is also referred to as correction and chastening. “My child, don’t reject the LORD’s discipline, and don’t be upset when He corrects you. For the LORD corrects those He loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights.” Proverbs 3:11,12
Although His discipline and correction is just, we can’t possibly know and understand why and how he sends His loving discipline our way. “I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 and in Isaiah 55 – “My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways”, says the LORD.
When you sense that the LORD is correcting you, thank Him for His love. Ask Him to make His instructions clear to you so that you will learn what you need to learn so you will grow in His grace and the knowledge of Him. As you grow, your faith will be strengthened as you see God’s “fingerprints” on the events surrounding you. And you will be able to encourage your brothers and sisters with what you have learned.
