God’s Goodness
This week’s Devotional Topic
This week on Call To Worship we will be sharing one of most popular Psalms in the Scriptures; The 23rd Psalm. When David composed the conclusion of this Psalm he knew well the richness of its meaning. The last verse says, “Surely Goodness and Mercy will follow me all the days of my life.”
What David had in mind was an understanding and lavish presentation of God’s Goodness. The Hebrew word for “follow” is most often translated “to chase or pursue.” So when David speaks of God’s Goodness following us throughout our lives, it literally means that God is actively pursuing us with goodness. What an incredibly delightful way to think about God. You will find that God’s Goodness & Mercy is never dissipated or negated by distressing circumstances, and even in the most painful hours, His goodness is intensely pursuing you to comfort and strengthen your inner being.
This week’s Scripture: Psalm 23:1-6 (NIV)
