The Many Names of Jesus

This week’s Devotional Topic
This week we will be singing and talking about the many names of Jesus.  We will share a beautiful devotion by Max Lucado called, “Just Call Me Jesus”.  It is true that Jesus has many names: the Alpha and Omega (The beginning and the End); The Son of God; The Resurrection and the Life, and many other beautiful names.  But God decided to give his son a very common earthy name.  He was called by his friends and family just Jesus.  Jesus was the Greek form of Joshua and there were many other men during His time that shared that name.  He was touchable, approachable, and reachable, and when He spoke, he’d listen to you as if he had all the time in the world.
There was not one person who was reluctant to approach Him for fear of being rejected.  Remember that the next time you find yourself amazed and saddened by your own failures.  Jesus is a friend who gave His life just for you!  God came to the world as a man, a Man named Jesus, and he came to save people from their sins.
This week’s Scripture: Psalm 115:1-18 (NIV)
